Swim Lane

Swim lane is a technique for mapping organizational structure to processes. The swim lane, or Rummler-Brache approach, is a popular method, wherein organizational bands or lanes are placed on a page representing the process steps for a particular group or organization.

From a process management perspective, swim lanes are also used to delineate ownership or stewardship of all activities and processes within those swim lanes.
