Scorecards provide continuous performance
measurements of key
process metrics and their related business impacts. They
are best created and communicated in conjunction with a BPM
Platform where the gathering of process metrics
occurs as process events are executed. This allows executives
to view organizational results
in near real-time. An organization can use a scorecard to become
more strategy-focused, because the linkage between strategy and
processes can be more
clearly defined and actively managed. A special type of scorecard
called the balanced scorecard is a management system, not just
a measurement system, designed to meet this objective.

A balanced scorecard
enables organizations to clarify their vision and strategy and
translate them into action. It provides feedback around both
the internal business processes and external outcomes in order
to continuously improve strategic performance and results. When
fully deployed, the balanced scorecard transforms strategic planning
from an academic exercise into the nerve center of an enterprise.
A process-driven organization gains significant benefits from
fully automating its use of scorecards through the use of a BPM
Platform. A process portal is often the interface used to view
scorecard metrics. |
