A digitized process is a computer representation of a business
process. It represents the inputs and outputs, via data and information,
of the various steps in the process. It differs from a graphical
process model in that a digitized process can be used by a business
process execution engine to actually manage the implementation
of the process.

Digitizing processes
enables organizations to realize many of the benefits
of becoming process-driven since processes are explicitly defined and consistently
executed. This improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the
organization as well as mitigates the impact of staff turnover.
