Primary Processes
Sponsored by

Primary processes are those business processes that are judged essential to an organization’s performance. Without these primary processes, the organization would not “be in business” – it would cease to have good reasons to exist, unless it redefines itself.

For example, in a product manufacturing business primary processes might include:

  • Product Development
  • Distribution/Delivery
  • Customer Service

In an entirely different organization, such as a private philanthropic foundation, primary processes might include:
· Grant application processing
· Due diligence
· Financial management

Primary processes may be standard or differentiated processes. Thus, some may be outsourced, and others performed in-house.
