Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) is an automated form of process
monitoring that provides near real-time monitoring of business
operations. It is typically found as part of a BPM
Platform.
BAM enables better decision-making and faster response to problems
and opportunities.
BAM works by monitoring processes for circumstances that fall
outside of defined business rules, and then launches sub-processes
to address those circumstances. Process
owners and process participants
(i.e., stakeholders) are then given the information they need
to analyze, modify, improve and control individual processes
instances or entire process definitions in real-time.

or communicated through a dashboard or scorecard in a process
